ubiquinol effect on sperm parameters in subfertile men who have astheno-teratozoospermia with normal sperm concentration

چکیده
conclusions the weakness of the literature with regard to coenzyme q10 is about its effects in patients with severely diminished sperm densities and the physiologic steps of morphologic improvements. results the increase in mean values of concentration after the ubiquinol treatment was not statistically significant (p value = 0.065). however, the changes in morphology and motility (fast progressive [a] and a + slow progressive [b]) were statistically significant (p < 0.00). objectives the aim of this study was the investigation of the effects of ubiquinol, reduced form of coenzyme q10 (co-q10), an empiric treatment modality, on sperm parameters in idiopathic subfertility. patients and methods in this retrospective study, 62 patients who had received 100 mg ubiquinol twice a day for six months due to idiopathic infertility since january 2012 to january 2013 were included. only infertile patients with astheno-teratozoospermia without any identified etiology and with a spermatozoa concentration of greater than 13 × 106/ml were included. background considering all the couples willing and trying to get pregnant, the incidence of infertility is 15% of which approximately half of the cases are due to the male factors.

متن کاملThe Effect of Varicocelectomy on Sperm Parameters in Subfertile Men with Clinical Varicoceles Who Have Asthenozoospermia or Teratozoospermia with Normal Sperm Density
Background. To compare preoperative and postoperative sperm parameters such as sperm count, motility, and morphology in patients with normal sperm concentration with teratozoospermia and asthenozoospermia. Materials and Methods. Hundred and six patients with varicocele associated with male infertility over a 5-year period were included into the study. Pre- and postvaricocelectomy seminal fluid ...
متن کاملComparison between intracytoplasmic sperm injection and intracytoplasmic morphologically selected sperm injection in oligo-astheno-teratozoospermia patients
OBJECTIVE The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficiency of the intracytoplasmic morphologically selected sperm injection (IMSI) technique compared with conventional ICSI and previous ICSI attempts in oligo-astheno-teratozoospermia (OAT) patients. METHODS The sperms were selected under high magnification (6,600×) and used to induce fertilization in previous ICSI patients by IMSI. These ...
متن کاملImpact of DNA Damage on the Frequency of Sperm Chromosomal Aneuploidy in Normal and Subfertile Men
Background: Various frequencies of sperm aneuploidy are reported in sperms of subfertile patients compared to normal individuals. Moreover, sperm DNA damage is shown to be associated with male infertility. In this study, the rate of DNA damage and frequencies of aneuploidy in sperms of subfertile patients was investigated. Methods: Semen samples were obtained from healthy normal and subfertile ...
متن کاملThe effect of rhFSH on Sperm DNA Fragmentation and sperm parameters in Oligozoospermia Infertile Men
Background: One of the main causes of male infertility is the negative effects of oxidative stress. Follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) plays an essential role in spermatogenesis, as well as in the maintenance of sperm DNA integrity. This study aimed to determine whether the recombinant human follicle-stimulating hormone (rhFSH) treatment of sperm parameters could positively affect sperm DNA and...
متن کاملMorphologically normal spermatozoa of patients with secretory oligo-astheno-teratozoospermia have an increased aneuploidy rate.
BACKGROUND Normal morphology is a major criterion for selecting spermatozoa to be injected. Given that teratozoospermia is one of the most critical parameters associated with sperm aneuploidy, the purpose of this study was to evaluate the aneuploidy rate of morphologically normal spermatozoa of patients with oligo-astheno-teratozoospermia (OAT). METHODS Ten patients with secretory OAT and six...
